ABOUT your captain

Hey there – I’m Blake, the captain behind Hanging Loose Charters. I’m originally from Roanoke, Virginia, but the waters near Anna Maria Island have always felt like a second home. After years of vacationing here with family, I made the move permanent in 2019, chasing the saltwater life I’ve always loved.

My passion for fishing started young—my earliest memory is casting lines in a little creek with my grandfather. From there, I honed my skills on the James River, learning patience, technique, and the thrill of setting the hook.

These days, I spend my time guiding anglers through some of the best inshore waters Florida has to offer on my beautiful custom T-Craft 24 foot tower boat, chasing Snook, Trout, Redfish and Tarpon (with a few tasty species mixed in.) Whether you're a first-time fisherman or a seasoned pro, I love sharing the experience and helping people connect with the water.

I’m a proud graduate of Roanoke College with a degree in Business with minors in Finance and Law—but life took me in a different, saltier direction. In 2023, I met the love of my life, and we tied the knot in 2024.

When I’m not guiding charters, you’ll still find me on the water—exploring, relaxing, and enjoying everything this amazing area has to offer. I can’t wait to share it with you, too.
